Who the heck is Jessica?

Jessica is an NYC based personal trainer and group fitness instructor. She’s been working in the health and wellness industry since the dawn of the boutique fitness era (aka 2013) and has continued to develop her passion for education through movement ever since. She’s nerdy and fun and loves working with motivated, curious clients. For her full bio, click here.

Where can I train with her?

Jess trains private clients in person at Encore Fitness in the Flatiron area, in clients’ homes or private gyms, or remotely via FaceTime or Zoom.

How do I know if we’ll be a good fit?

If you are meeting Jess in person, you will spend a portion of your first session chatting about goals, training styles, and working through some functional movement assessments before hitting your first workout. If you decide your styles don’t match, no worries - there’s never any obligation to continue. If you’re training remotely, you can also hop on a diagnostic call to get a sense of Jess’ style, her cheesy sense of humour and how the structure of her sessions usually work.

I’m new to fitness. Can i still Train with jessica?

YES, ALWAYS! One-to-one training is fully tailored to YOU, your current fitness level, and what your goals are. Jess is very flexible with programming and will make modifications in the moment whenever required. All exercises be modified, adjusted and scaled to your individual fitness level and Jess will steer you in the right direction and help you confidently modify whenever is needed.

Can I work out with Jess if I’m pregnant? Injured?

As long as you have been approved by your doctor, yes! Jessica is Pre/Post Natal certified and has helped many women stay active, through classes and/or personal training, as their bodies shift and change throughout pregnancy. As for injuries, Jessica also holds her Corrective Exercise Specialist certification from NASM, so, after your physiotherapy is completed, she’s uniquely qualified to help you work through strengthening muscles that could be compromised and correcting any compensatory imbalances.

How often should I work out with Jess?

This is totally up to you and your current fitness habits. Jess recommends 2-3 times per week, depending on your goals, but this can be a discussion you have together.

what do I need to know before my first in-person one on one session?

Come prepared to work! You and Jess will spend the first ten minutes or so chatting, then you’ll move through some functional movement assessments. Following those will be a truncated version of a session. All you need is an idea of your why and some sneakers. Jess recommends keeping a water bottle nearby, and trying to eat something with protein and complex carbs at least an hour before the workout.

What do I need to know before my first remote one on one session?

You and Jess will have chatted about your goals, either via email or over the phone, and similarly to an in-person session, you’ll spend a few minutes moving through some functional movement assessments. Following those will be a truncated version of a session. All you need is to have gathered any fitness equipment in your home so you and Jessica can chat through what will be most useful, and as above, an idea of your why and some sneakers!

What do I need to know before my first remote WRitten session?

You and Jess will have chatted, either via email or on the phone about what your goals are. She’ll send over a detailed workout plan with a glossary of terms. You’ll want to gather any necessary equipment, read through the glossary and go over any unfamiliar exercises. Jess is always available by phone or email should you need clarification. She also recommends keeping a water bottle nearby, and trying to eat something with protein and complex carbs at least an hour before the workout.
